I already created one virtual lab successfully. Now I try to create a virtual lab on an esx-server in a different cluster. The creation of the virtual lab fails when the ressource pool should be created.
The error messages says:
Code: Select all
Creating ressource pool ... on esx5. This process is not supported for this object.
Then the creation of the virtual lab is stopped.
Best regards,
Martin

Hello Martin,
Please tell us whether you can create a resource pool on this cluster manually, using vSphere Client?

If you're trying to create a resource pool in the Cluster, please make sure you've turned on VMware DRS for this Cluster. Thanks!

What about customers with vSphere Essential Plus or vSphere Standard/Advanced with no DRS aware cluster ? only HA cluster.

As a temporary workaround for customers without DRS feature we'd recommend use ESX(i) host that is not part of a cluster. It is possible to create resource pools on such hosts.
We're planning to add ability to proceed without creating resource pool to version 5.0.1. This should take care of customers with basic VMware licenses.

Thanks Alexey.
We are in the same situation.
Could you give us an estimate on when you are planning to release 5.0.1?
Thanks,
Paul

I was having the same problem. We upgraded to 5.0.1 and this problem went away for us. I am now able to successfully create virtual labs.
THANK YOU!!!!
