cryptolocker got me - can you save me

Post by macky4546 »

So we got infected by the cryptolocker on Friday afternoon. We need didnt notice untill monday morning. Well when we went to restore with veeam we had a full run on that saturday which overwrote all the files with the encrypted files.
Now we have only backups of encrypted files.
I was digging through my repository and noticed a full VBK @ 415GB in size. This was taken in July and we were infected in October. When i try to import the vbk it give me an error that it is the wrong version. We are on 6.5 but that backup may have been created in 4 or 5 i am not sure.

What would you do to recover that data?

Unless this backup was made by a beta version, it should work fine as v7 support recovery from VBK created by any previous version of the product.

All Veeam B&R versions provide backward compatibility in terms of backup file format, so backups created by any of the previous official releases should be recoverable. Anyway, you can contact support to get the previous version setup package and try to restore this way.
