DB Downgrade

Post by yowmemperor »

We are likely downgrading from SQL Standard to Express. The DB size isn't going to be a problem. But, I do want to check and see if there are any hang ups here, and if there is a guide for this floating around somewhere? I am no SQL expert. I did find the Veeam DB migration guide.

No SQL expert either. But from what I know, if your database is under 10GB, you should be fine - because we don't use any special SQL Server features which are only available in paid editions. Thanks!

Thanks Gostev, that's about what I needed to hear! With it only consuming 7GB we we don't see a need to pay for the license. Will this be performed just like a migration?

Are you going to install a new Express instance and migrate Veeam B&R db there? Then the easiest would be to use configuration backup/restore functionality to migrate.
