I got a new array with deduplication and compression, so I have disabled compression and deduplication for my jobs. But when I look at file properties of the backed up files, it still shows that files are being deduplicated?
File - Data Size - Backup Size - Deduplication - Compression
fmcphftp01.vm-34624D2021-05-06T210725_363C.vib - 3.52 TB - 30.7 GB - 1.0 x - 1.0 x
fmcphftp01.vm-34624D2021-05-05T210309_2FD9.vib - 3.54 TB - 43.4 GB - 83.4 x - 1.0 x

Re: dedup factor incorrect?
Hi Morten, have you run a new full backup for these changes to take effect?

Re: dedup factor incorrect?
Likely you ran guest reclaim (retrim, UNMAP...) within thin provisioned disk. This marks CBT for every unused block but as there is no data to read from VMDK during backup, it is marked as deduplicated.

Re: dedup factor incorrect?
Yes It is a new backup chain where I have run a "active full" backup
Ah that makes sense as sometimes the dedup factor shows 83x and then the next day it is 1.0x. Thanks.DonZoomik wrote: Likely you ran guest reclaim (retrim, UNMAP...) within thin provisioned disk. But at the same time I guess the deduplication factor in the properties view is kind of useless then
