Delete backups from primary repository but not secondary?

Post by brianlees »

We backup to a local NAS. We then have a copy job (Veeam 7) that pushes everything over to a secondary NAS (will eventually be moved offsite). I'm making some changes to the backup jobs and I want to clear everything off the local NAS, but still retain the images on the secondary NAS.

In the past, I have deleted them from the Disk option under Backups. I see the files listed and it says the repository is our primary NAS. If I delete them from this location in the Veeam interface, they will still remain on the secondary, correct? The copy job is setup for the following:
  • Keep 30 restore points
  • 4 weekly
  • 12 monthly
  • 8 quarterly
  • 7 yearly

You can see both backup and backup copy job listed under “Backups” node. As long as you delete there only restore points of backup job, restore points produced by backup copy job will be intact.

Thanks.
