Delete Data From Dell Data Domain 3300

Post by IT Person1 »

New setup with Veeam Backup & Replication 10.0.1.4854 and Dell Data Domain 3300. Did some initial backups to the Data Domain to test. Tried to delete the data from the Data Domain using "Delete from disk" option in Veeam. Data Domain still shows the space as used, as if the data was not deleted. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

This might be how Data Domain works, perhaps their garbage collector will come later... you should check with Dell EMC support on this.

Thank you for the suggestion. It turns out that the Data Domain cleaning process (Dell's terminology) is scheduled by default to run weekly. That process is supposed to remove data as long as the data isn't connected to other data, like the same email saved by multiple users.
