Deleting restore points
Hi, we have run out of space on a NAS as for some reason, a local, hourly backup job that is set to keep 7 restore points has actually kept 34
We are now unable to run the job in order to clear the restore points as there is no space, and it doesnt seem that changing the retention will actually affect the number of restore points that are being kept on disk.
How are we able to manually delete restore points from the disk, and what would be the best way to troubleshoot as to why 34 restore points are being kept?

Re: Deleting restore points
Freddie, what backup method does this job use (forward/reverse incremental) and what backup files do you currently have on disk?

Re: Deleting restore points
To clean up space, you can manually remove the oldest full with its dependent incrementals. They will continue to show up in the Veeam B&R UI until being removed according to retention.
To understand why the retention is not met, please also describe the job schedule and check whether the job was always running as intended. One of the possible reasons is missing the scheduled (e.g. weekly) full backup.

When you say manually remove the oldest full, how will i know whether the vibs are related to that vbk? just remove all the vib files that are dated prior to the vbk?

Yes, those that were created prior the current full. You will be able to remove them from UI then, using the missing restore points removal option.

Hi Foggy, is the option to remove the individual restore points only available in version 9 as i do not seem to see the option in v8?
