Hi guys,
This question is for Veeam version 11. I have to back up both physical servers with an agent for application awareness plus a large vSphere environment. I am wondering what type of proxy to deploy. Can I deploy a regular proxy that serves as both a proxy for physical backups and VMware, or do I have to deploy dedicated proxies for VMware and for regular proxy to back up with the agent? Or can I share the same proxy server VMs for both VMware Proxy and regular Proxy?
Thanks in advance

Re: Differences in VBR 11 Proxies
Hi
Agents doesn‘t require a proxy server.
The only use case where a proxy is required if your physical machine have volumes on a storage appliance and you want to leverage backups from storage snapshots for that physical machine.
If you don‘t have such volumes, then you only need vmware proxies. And if you have such volumes and want to use the storage integration for the agent, you can share the same machine for both proxy types.
Thanks
Fabian
