Different schedule for active full backups
Servus Community,
we configure the start time of our incremental backups at 8:00 pm on weekdays. We also configure an active full backup on everey Sunday which starts unfortunately also at 8:00 pm. Now we have the problem that we run out of time because the full backup task (~5,0 TB) will not finish before the next business day starts. In fact in terms of the full backup we are wasting the whole Sunday. During normal business days we only have the evening and night for backup and maintenance tasks, so we cannot start backups early in the morning, just to take into account that the full backup starts at the same time as the incremental backups. On Saturday we write the complete Week since the last full backup including all following incrementals on tape.
Is there a possibility to split this schedule into two different start times depending wether an incremental job is started or a full backup?
THx & Bye Tom

Re: Different schedule for active full backups
Hello Tom,
Unfortunately it impossible - Active Full backup relies on backup job schedule. Counted as feature request, thank you!

Re: Different schedule for active full backups
Servus Dima,
okay it's a pity.
But what would happen if we start the full backup task on Saturday at 8 pm and the tape backup task is not finished yet? We come from Retrospect, and there the following tasks wait when the previous one is not finished yet. How long it should wait is even adjustable. We also took advantage of this opportunity, to use our backup window as efficiently as possible. We have also set the start times of various backup jobs in that way that the job must wait in any case, because then he starts determined immediately after the previous job.
My problem now is that I have to work it all together theoretically because I only have one tape library. If the library is dosconnected by Retrospect and connected to Veeam, this must fit. I have no way to test it in detail.
Thx & Bye Tom

Re: Different schedule for active full backups
You can prevent backup job from executing, if tape job is still running. You can do that by enabling corresponding check box.
Also, you can write a simple PS script that will run active full backup outside of general schedule (Windows Task Scheduler).
Thanks.

Re: Different schedule for active full backups
Hello Rasul,
If you source job is scheduled to create periodic full backup virtual full backup is not required for tape jobs (moreover this option will be ignored in the tape job): tape job will write the active full from disk, so there is nothing to worry about. Cheers!
