Hi,
in the documentation for Veeam B&R Direct San backup it recommends a physical server as backup proxy:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... l?ver=95u4 - "It is strongly recommended that you assign the role of a backup proxy working in the Direct SAN access mode to a physical machine. If you assign this role to a VM, the backup proxy performance may not be optimal."
Is the reason for this recommendation based on disk IO, network latency or bw, a possible disruption to the host ESXi or something else?

Re: Direct San - physical
Hi Olav, direct SAN access from virtual machine doesn't much sense, since data will not avoid ESXi stack, which is the main advantage of direct storage access. In case of virtual proxy it is recommended to use hotadd.
