[V13] Distributed EM deployment

Post by mikeely »

Looking at the guide here, I see instructions for how to distribute B&R servers, but it still only shows one EM. Given that one of the major reasons for a distributed deployment is to eliminate single points of failure, how do we geographically distribute Enterprise Manager as well?

Hi Mike,

Currently Enterprise Manager doesn't have a high availability option -- we can consider this as a request.

Enterprise Manager typically does handle being backed up without issue, the main concern is periodically export and backup the keysets to preserve the Lost Password Protection functionality, so recovery from an Enterprise Manager failure is possible.

That's a bit disappointing. As a follow-up, how does one deploy only B&R using the VSA? Also, where does the backup database live in this deployment? Wouldn't we need to have the EM database replicating somewhere for a DR situation?

Edit: nevermind. I installed my test stuff from the OVA, needs to be installed via ISO if I want B&R only.
