Do backups of the WAN accelerator ignore the cache?
Just now implementing WAN acceleration and wondering how regular backups of the WAN accelerator VM are handled. Is the cache backed up like normal? Ignored? What about for copy jobs of the accelerator VM? Is cache data treated any differently from regular VM data?

Re: Do backups of the WAN accelerator ignore the cache?
Hi Brett,
If cache data is located in the VM, then you can back it up, since this is stored inside the Guest OS. You can always populate cache data from existing backups/VMs even if you lose it for some reason.
Thanks!

Thanks Vitaliy. Does the cache data get sent over WAN during offsite copy jobs? We have a slow link between sites and wondering what amount of data will actually have to be transferred. The cache is at 100GB now and growing.

No, cache data is stored within WAN accelerators and is not "touched" by backup copy jobs. The more cache data you have, the more efficient VM data transfer will be done by future runs of the backup copy jobs.
