Hi there! First post in a long time:
Does anyone use VEEAM Backup and Replication as a long term file restoration solution? We're looking to get rid of Barracuda Backup as our file based restore solution for our Heldpesk\Desktop team and we're also looking into the option of using VEEAM exclusively as our DR solution. We're running VEEAM for 30 days of image based backups, non indexed, at the moment. The file based retention we have with our customers is either infinite or as far back as their own statute of limitations, sometimes up to 7 years.
Does anyone use VEEAM to, say, prove that they have file based backups in place for years back? Or does anyone specifically rely on being able to do file based restores from a long while ago?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Does anyone use VEEAM for long term file retention?
Hi Dan, it doesn't really matter what specific types of restore you're going to use - full VM recovery, file-level restores or whatever - all of them are performed from the same backup files, so the question is more like "does anyone use Veeam B&R to keep backup data forever (or long-term)" and the answer is definitely "yes". You are free to set whatever retention you want and able to keep, keeping in mind that GFS-based approach is also available in backup copy jobs.
