Hello,
Today we noticed something new when our backup repo started to fill up.
For a virtual we have a backup job:
Retention policy: 14 restore points
Remove deleted VM's after 14 days
Forever incremental
Daily job
And a copy Job:
Copy every 1 day
restore points to keep
keep the following for archival purposes: 2 weeks
The archive job has been remade since we wanted to use an other backup archive repository.
Now we noticed that the files from the old archive job did not get removed when they ran out there retention.
So now we still have the following files:
Why doesnt Veeam clean up these files?
Is this because the job does not exist annymore?

Re: Does Veeam remove backup files from old removed jobs
Hi mkobes,
Since there is no job, retention cannot be applied. You should be using Backup copy job mapping to add old chain to the processing and apply retention policy or remove all unneded restore point backup chains manually.
Your new BCJ has started its own backup chain, and it cannot check retention policy for the old job chains.
Thanks!
