DOES VEEAM TEST SQL SERVER BACKUP FUNCTIONAL IN SQL SERVER

Post by astoinemicro »

Beside the integrity check of a backup ,can Veeam test an SQL DATA BASE backup if it's functional in a SQL SERVER without restoring it and retesting it directley in SQL SERVER

Hi Morad

Veeam provides SureBackup Jobs which allows you to test recovery of your backups automatically. We use a instant recovery for that check. So it's never a restore of the entire VM. For SQL we check if the database services are online and if we can connect to the databases.

No, there is no other way to test MSSQL backups.
A SureBackup Job (and SureReplica) or manual restore test by the backup/restore admin is required.

Hello,

@astoinemicro
I would recommend to have a look at the Publish feature available in Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL. It enables you publish a point-in-time state of any backed-up database to the selected SQL server for Dev/Test purposes by running the database directly from the backup file. Also, the changed state of the published database can be exported or discarded with no impact on the actual backup.

Thanks!
