Easiest way to verify my passwords/keys are all correct
I set up Veeam service account passwords, encryption keys, passwords to file shares on repositories and such years ago and have never changed them. I need to verify that passwords/keys in my company's password safe are still correct. Is there somewhere in the Veeam B&R console to key these in to verify they are correct? I want to be VERY careful not to break any existing connections due to an incorrect password, even though unlikely.
If the only way to get a good test is to restore the Veeam config to a new server and get another console up and running and work with the connections there, I am open to that. It would probably be a good exercise anyway, especially if I can test without it affecting my production Veeam server.

You don't need to verify passwords to accounts, server, file shares etc. because because if they are wrong then backups will start to fail immediately.
Verifying backup encryption passwords on the other hand is a great practice. This can only be done by importing backup to a clean backup server, without importing configuration backup.

I know passwords within Veeam are correct since like you said, backups would fail if they were incorrect. I'm trying to verify that what I have in my password safe is correct. So, I need a way to verify that.
I will look into setting up a new server to verify my backup encryption password for now at least.

What about the extract utility to test if the encryption password is correct? After selecting a backup it asks for the password if the backup is encrypted. It doesn’t work for backups stored on object storage repositories though.

Thanks FrancWest! I was able to use that utility to determine that may backups are NOT encrypted!
Now I need to determine what the "encryption key" I have saved is actually for. Perhaps that was for the Veeam configuration backup, not the backups themselves.
