Jeff - at the very end of the job it will attempt to send the mail:

"[05.14.2009 11:40:16] <01> Info Sending email notification, server "email.test.com", port 25, timeout 100000"

Can you check the bottom of the log to see if there is an error here? Are you using local SMTP or no?

Thanks!

Ben - for whatever the reason... the JOB_jobname.log is showing this:

[15.05.2009 18:00:11] <01> Info Options: <BackupJobOptions xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"><Reta ... VcbFailure>
<CompressionLevel>4</CompressionLevel><RunManually>false</RunManually><MaxAmountOfDiffBackups>0</MaxAmountOfDiffBackups><PostCommand />
<VCBMode>nbd</VCBMode><EmailNotification>false</EmailNotification></BackupJobOptions>

Is there somewhere I can change this setting besides the GUI? I've tried un-selecting and re-selecting without success.

Because of this setting, I believe I won't be able to locate the string you asked about.

BTW, the SMTP server is remote and I have Symantec, and a few other programs working fine with it. Infact, the previous installation of Veeam Backup 3.01 it worked as well.

Jeff,

That is strange that it is enabled under the options of Veeam Backup, and that is not correctly updating the job. Now, when you mention that you have selected this setting, have you done this under "Tools"/"Options", as well as on the advanced job properties? You can set up the SMTP information under the first setting mentioned, and then toggle this individually on each job under the advanced settings. This is turned on by default for jobs. If you still have all of these considerations met, than I think sending a mail to support@veeam.com is the next step so we can troubleshooting the precise root cause.

Thanks!

The setting under the ADVANCED OPTIONS on the Backup Destination window was NOT set... this is enabled now. Doh! Thanks Ben. I'll update you later tomorrow when I get my notifications.
