VXRAIL is based on vsan in regards of the underlying storage. vsan uses a different snapshot technology that doesn't suffer from snapshot stun, so it doesn't require storage integration. Luca, can you explain what you mean by "doesn't require storage integration"? How does vsan (or vnxrack) differ from traditional storage and thus traditional snapshot handling?

VSAN doesn't use the redolog technology used in VMFS and NFS datastore, but a new format, so the commit is almost immediate. You can read more here:

Our integration with VSAN works also by reading data from the node that has the majority of data of a given disk, so that the network traffic is rduced to the minimum needed.
