Enable storage latency control

Post by davicillo »

Good Morning

It is recommended to activate the I/O latency control to reduce the backup window of the jobs. It is really necessary when there are no concurrent tasks.

Thank you very much

Not sure what's the question here, could you elaborate? Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't put the question marks.

The question is if activating this option would improve the speed in the execution of jobs, if the backup window would be reduced

I would not say so, cause latency control throttles job performance when it causes to much load on production datastore. It does so by stopping assigning new tasks and adding processing timeouts.

You can find more information regarding it here.

Thanks!

No, the latency threshold will not improve backup speed, as it will actually lower the backup speed so that the production load does no slow down so much during the backup.

We have used this to lower the backup speed/load for our SQL servers that do most of the processing in the night.
