Enabling backup file encryption

Post by bwright97 »

Hi all,

I'm just now getting around to setting up the backup jobs after installing VBR 11 for the first time. I'd like to enable backup file encryption, but I'm getting "Loss protection disabled" displayed. How do I enable loss protection? We are currently only licensed for Veeam Backup Essentials. Do I need a license for something else? I did some googling and Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager seems to come up a lot in reference to enabling encryption.

Thank you,

Complete nube.

Yes, you need to install Enterprise Manager in order to enable the Loss Protection. Then you can enable encryption.

That warning only means that if you lose your password, you won't be saved by Enterprise Manager. You can still enable encryption and it will work.
