Hi,
We are backuping remote and local hosts with several backup jobs, copy jobs and tape jobs since a while. We want to implement encrytion for the whole backup process.
At the moment we are still using LTO3 tapes so hardware encryption wouldn't work for us.
The question is: Do I have to activate backup file encryption for every single disk and copy job in the chain? And if all jobs and data transmissions would be encrypted is hardware encryption needed at all?
Thanks for helping,
Jonathan

Re: Encryption for running jobs
Hi Jonathan, you need to enable encryption in the jobs that need to produce encrypted backups. It could be both backup and backup copy jobs, depending on your backup scenario. You may or may not use tape software encryption, provided you encrypt backups on disk.
