Encryption keys storage snapshots

Post by YannickMetz »

Hello,

i am trying to renew our encryption passwords because somehow they are not accepted anymore.
When i want to delete the key from the password manager, there is an information that says, there are still jobs using this password. But all these jobs are storage snapshots where i cant find any setting for encryption in the job itself.
So how can i delete this password or change the encryption settings for storage snapshot jobs?

thanks,
Yannick

Hello,
that does not sound correct for me. As you already noticed, there is no password option for snapshot only jobs. Do you have a case number?

Thanks,
Hannes

Hello,

thats what i expected. This information cant be correct.
sadly i cant open a ticket right now, since i am not a case administrator. My colleague registered me as a case administrator but it still doesn't work..so i have to contact him again.

Any suggestions so far? These storage snapshots are in use since update 3b i guess. So maybe it came with the updates.

Hi Yannick, the only suggestion I have is that these jobs did previously create backups from storage snapshots and then were switched to snapshot-only. In this case, there could have been database records related to encryption that do not allow deleting the keys - this is just a guess, however. Better check with support.

Update: we were able to confirm this guess, so this is an issue in Veeam B&R that will be addressed in one of the future updates (likely in v10). Thanks for the heads up!

They might be able to delete stale records from the database manually.
