Enterprise Manager for Licensing
Hi.
We have lots of Veeam Backup Servers located around the globe and operated by local IT teams. Hovewer we want consolidate licensing and licensing raport also from server side.
One option is use Enterprise Manger. Unfortunatelly using one central EM has to many side effects , we want to avoid (security, compatibility, missing multilevel hierarhy).
Is there some other option for counting and distributing licenses?

Re: Enterprise Manager for Licensing
Hi Andres,
If you just want to monitor license files across multiple backup servers, you can use Veeam ONE (part of Veeam Availability Suite) that has predefined alarms for license expiration as well as a Backup Inventory report that displays all used license keys.
Please note though that Veeam ONE does not distribute license keys, so Enterprise Manager is still the solution here. As a workaround to that, you can enable the license auto-update feature in each VBR server. This will allow you to stay on the up-to-date key all the time.
Thanks!

Re: Enterprise Manager for Licensing
So, in following setup:
all backup servers bound to EM and when in EM Update licenses key automatically is selected and
all standalone backup servers where Update license automatically (enables usage reporting) is selected
should report to Veeam Licensing server automatically and license usage must be seen?
Assuming there is internet connectivity.

Re: Enterprise Manager for Licensing
Can you please clarify what do you mean by "usage must be seen"? Are you a service provider? If not, then regular customers do not need to report their usage. This option (Automatic license update) allows retrieving the correct license file once it is updated in Veeam licensing servers.AndresP wrote:all standalone backup servers where Update license automatically (enables usage reporting) is selected should report to Veeam Licensing server automatically and license usage must be seen?

To see usage in the report, then you either need to go with Enterpise Manager or Veeam ONE for all backup servers. Enabling the auto-update license feature will not show you anything in the backup server UI/EM UI. Thanks!
