Enterprise Manager - Templates

Post by rhnb »

Can anyone explain how Veeam Enterprise Manager decides a template is a template?
On the 'Last 24 hours' screen in the Summary section, I see...
Backup Servers: 2
Jobs: 12
VMs: 117
Templates: 0

Now of those 117 VM's 10 are templates. I even have them in a separate 'Templates' job as I understand you have to use 'Network' processing mode and for all other jobs I use Virtual Appliance mode.

Backups are running fine, but I just wondered why the summary doesn't show 'Templates: 10'. Am I missing something?

Cheeers... allan.

Allan, I just successfully backed up a template (.VMTX) and it shows up in Enterprise Manager under Templates in the Summary section. I'd recommend to log a support ticket to investigate. Thanks.

Thanks for that foggy. I'll log a support call. These are definitely templates (VMTX).

Just an update on this. It's been confirmed as a bug and has been escalated to a 'Tier 3 engineer'. Seems that if your templates are in a folder (ours are), then they don't show as templates in Enterprise Manager.
That'll teach us for keeping things tidy looking ;-)

Allan, thanks for sharing this. Though, I was also backing templates stored in a folder during my test above.. so the issue might be a bit deeper. Btw, what is your support ticket ID?

The ID is 5150757. The issue is when you actually backup the entire folder, not just the template within the folder :)
