EnterpriseManager catalog retention

The default retention period for Guest filesystem catalog data on Enterprise Manager 12 is 13 months. What's the benefit of keeping this much data if we're not keeping the "actual" backup data that long? Is it used for reporting purposes or something else? I'm trying to determine if I should actually keep that much data (and therefore the necessary disk space to hold it all), or decrease the retention period and save on disk space.

In my eyes, there is not much value if you cannot restore from it.

The default retention period for Guest filesystem catalog data on Enterprise Manager 12 is 13 months.

Default Value is three month. Do you see the 13 month on a new installation? Or are you referring to the 13 weeks Event History.
