Entire VM Resotre of backup proxy
Hello everyone,
someone accidently deleted C:\Program Files (x86)\Veeam on one of our backup proxies. This backup proxy also is the mount server for most of our backup repositories. I tried to fix the problem using the rescan option, but that did not recreate the missing folder and files.
I am wondering if it's safe / possible to do a entire VM restore of the proxy to the original location, using a restore point where the deleted veeam directory still existed? Is this possible or do we run in trouble with Veeam afterwards?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Mathias

Hi Mathias,
You should be able to go through Proxy > Edit wizard again.
At last step we will re-deploy required transport components if we detect they are missing on a target machine for whatever reason.
/Thanks!

Re: Entire VM Resotre of backup proxy
Hi,
just tried to to use the "Edit Proxy" wizard, but it fails already at the first step "Server". When clicking next, the validation of the first step aborts with error message "Transport service is unavailable". No other chance to complete the wizard than clicking cancel.
Do you have any other suggestions ?
thanks and best regards,
Mathias

Did you also try uninstalling Veeam components on Proxy server from "Apps and Features"?

Re: Entire VM Resotre of backup proxy
I've now uninstalled the Veeam transport service component and got a registry error during that. However the transport service component does no appear under the installed programs list anymore. SadlyI still get the same error as described above, when using the wizard. I guess have to delete the registry keys manually, but I am not sure which ones I have to delete (also for the components which I did not uninstall yet -> VPowerNFS and Mount Service).

Veeam's hive is under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam.
Remember to dump it to file before deleting.

Hi,
I was now able to fix the issue, thanks to your hints. The Transport component is installed when using the "Edit Server" wizard and vPowerNFS is reinstalled when selecting the mount server in the repository properties again.
Thank you for your help!
regrads,
Mathias
