Error: wasn't able to parse uuid

Post by gittro »

Since this is the Veeam Backup Free Edition, and no license key is required, it seems I'm not able to open a support case online, so I'm not sure HOW I'm supposed to get any support for this....and based on your rules, this post may be deleted in any case.....Hmmm....

Anyway, I've tried backups of two of our VMware VM's using this tool. The backups appear to complete successfully but I get the warning message:
"wasn't able to parse uuid"

I can't find anything on this error.

Is it of concern?

How do I resolve it?

Many thanks.

Hello Rolf,

Actually we do provide support for users using our free products according to our support policy.

As to the error message....it doesn't seem like your backups might be affected by this error, anyway it's better to look through the entire job log, so please contact our technical team for assistance with this issue.

Thanks!

Thank you Vitaliy....for some reason I didn't see the "open a case" link on the web site when I logged in.
I've now submitted a case.
Many thanks for your assistance.

Hi Jbo, I cannot see any resolution mentioned in the OPs support ticket, so please contact our technical team directly if you want to get quicker assistance. BTW this error message shouldn't affect your backups anyhow. Thanks!

While waiting for gittro's reply, I would also suggest contacting our support team, as debug logs review might be required. Thanks!

Has anyone discovered the root cause to this issue based on interaction with support? I am receiving this error on a fresh install of 6.5.0.109 64-bit on Windows 2008 R2 when backing up a Windows 2008 R2 guest running on a ESX 5.1 host.

Jason, you'd better open your own case and if there's a solution, support techs will provide you with it or perform the investigation otherwise. No one in this thread has provided his support case number, so there is no way for me to look up the solution.

As a note, this issue was found to only occur when the backup proxy was configured to use Virtual Appliance (hotadd), Network Mode worked fine. The issue was resolved by connecting to the proxy and disabling automount via diskpart.

Additional Virtual Appliance mode troubleshooting information can be found at vee.am/kb1054
