Essentials vs Foundation
I can't get a straight answer from the website.
What is the difference in features between Essentials and Foundation?
Some things seem to indicate that the only difference is the number of devices. Other things seem to indicate that Foundation has AI-Scanning for malware and Essentials does not have that. But other things say that Essentials is good for detecting viruses. Plus, it seems that maybe features have changed between the editions recently.
Very confusing. Please tell me, very exactly, what are the specific differences between Essentials and Foundation?

Re: Essentials vs Foundation
Hello Joloo
Veeam Data Platform Essentials includes two products into a single license:
- Veeam Backup & Replication
- Veeam ONE
Our Essentials offering is limited to 50 instances. Meaning if you need to protect more than 50 VMs, you cannot get the essentials.
And because you get Foundation edition with our Essentials offering, features like YARA scan, KMS integration or the Splunk app won‘t be possible.
You can check all features from "Veeam Data Platform Foundation" in the license comparison guide: https://www.veeam.com/veeam_data_platfo ... son_ds.pdf
Best,
Fabian

Re: Essentials vs Foundation
You can get Foundation with Essentials? So essentials is the same as Foundation? Is that what you are saying?"And because you get Foundation edition with our Essentials offering, features like YARA scan, KMS integration or the Splunk app won‘t be possible."
The document you provided doesn't even contain the word Essentials, other than 1 sentence that says Essentials is available for purchase.
So, for example, is AI malware scanning available in Essentials? It is a Foundation feature.

Yes. Inline Scan is available with our essentials bundle. So, for example, is AI malware scanning available in Essentials? It is a Foundation feature.
I recommend to contact our Sales department. They can explain to you exactly what you will get with the Essentials bundle.
If you have less than 50 workloads, then you should always consider buying our Essentials bundle.
There is a contact form on our website: https://www.veeam.com/contact-sales.html
Thank you, I have provided this feedback to our marketing team. The document you provided doesn't even contain the word Essentials, other than 1 sentence that says Essentials is available for purchase.

Re: Essentials vs Foundation
I did contact sales, before I came here. They said essentials does not have AI malware scanning and that I would have to purchase foundation instead of essentials to get AI scanning.
Is the "inline scan" that you mention the same thing as the "ai scan" on the foundation datasheet?

Re: Essentials vs Foundation
It seems Fabian has really confused you with that VBR=Foundation reference so I edited it out of his post.
Veeam Essentials = Veeam Data Platform Advanced, but limited to 50 licenses maximum.
Just like Advanced, Essentials provides access to *ALL* features Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam ONE have to offer.
The sales person who responded to you is not correct.

Re: Essentials vs Foundation
Ok, thank you for that clarification. And, just to confirm, since Advanced does have Yara, that means essentials also contains Yara, correct? Because essentials equals advanced. If that is correct, then I believe I am good here.
