Estimating backup time

Post by hyvokar »

Hi!

Trying to estimate the time of the backp-copy job (estimated time time left would be a nice feature ;) )
However, I get two different percentages, and not sure which one is correct (see the http://kukka.net/~biini/temp/veeam.jpg).
Top job level top columns says 16% completed, bottoms one at the VM level says 9% .

The job has only one vm to process.

The top job level one shows the number for the entire job (including auxiliary tasks, such as building VMs list, etc.), while the one displayed in the job session log shows the number for the particular VM being processed.

Ok, thanks! It seems that job level percentage is quite rough estimate timewise on huge VMs.

Some infrastructure tasks are hard to predict.

True, I'll pay more attention to VM level percentage :-)

There's a Backup Job Historical Information report in Veeam ONE that could be also useful for such estimations.

Not in this case I'm afraid. This is one-time copy to usb-disk, so it can be transported to Cloud Service Provider.

Got it. Then using some extrapolation of the VM level number could do.
