We have a backup job for a single VM (Windows Server 2016, Exchange 2016) whereby the backup job appears to cause an ungraceful shutdown. The backup job completes successfully but the VM is shutdown and requires that it be manually powered back on.
We have attempted changing the time that the job runs but still occurred. No other jobs are running at the time. Other VM's on the physical host are not affected. Other backup jobs on the same physical host complete and this has never occurred with any other VM's. This nothing of relevance in Event Viewer.
It does not happen on every instance of the job, but has occurred 3-4 times now. Would appear to be related to Exchange 2016 and/or possibly ReFS - our Exchange mailbox databases are on a ReFS volume.
Has anyone run into this?

Re: Exchange 2016 Backup Job - Ungraceful Shutdown
Hello,
a shutdown / power-off of a VM that is related with backup sounds strange and is not a known issue.
Please continue working with support. It makes no sense to do "guessing" in a forum for that kind of issue.
Best regards,
Hannes
