Re: Exchange 2016 supported in v8?
Could you elaborate on what do you mean by "support", as there might be some variants:
- Is VB&R version 8 capable of backing up and replicating a VM running Exchange 2016?
- Does Application Aware Image Processing logic work against Exchange 2016?
- Does Veeam Explorer for Exchange v8 support Exchange 2016?
Thanks.

Re: Exchange 2016 supported in v8?
Does not really matter, as none of that is supported
Historically, we needed 2-3 months since RTM to add support for new major releases of 3rd party software. Which makes v9 the first opportunity for us to deliver support for Exchange 2016 (unless it has lots of braking changes, which will postpone support further).
In any case, I assume that most users are going to wait for SP1 before upgrading... this seems to be a hard rule for Exchange admins

Re: Exchange 2016 supported in v8?
That has indeed long been the rule (since at list the 5.x days), but there are lots of rumblings that this might not be the case this time around, especially since many people consider Exchange 2016 to be more like Exchange 2013 SP2 than a truly new release. Migrating to Exchange 2016 appears to be far easier than any previous Exchange release and many people believe that Exchange 2016 RTM is already more polished than even the most recent 2013 with updates at this point. This is likely due to the fact that 2016 has been used for Exchange Online for some time now so it's "been through the fire" even before it was released. While I'm sure admins will still wait some time, as is prudent, this might be the first Exchange release in 20 years to buck the "wait for SP1" trend, but that certainly remains to be seen. It will be interesting to watch though.Gostev wrote:In any case, I assume that most users are going to wait for SP1 before upgrading... this seems to be a hard rule for Exchange admins

We are also very curious about this question as my company is already planning an Exchange 2016 roll out globally in the first half of next year.

I'd say all of the above - if it's not supported, I'm wondering if anyone had tried any of the above?v.Eremin wrote:Could you elaborate on what do you mean by "support", as there might be some variants:

Re: Exchange 2016 supported in v8?
So let's hope that v9 is coming as soon as possible.
We have allready 20+ customers waiting for their Exchange upgrade to 2016 with VB&R or Availability Suite running as backup. And our own Hosted Exchange is also planned for an upgrade.
Our testing DAG is running allready for 10 weeks now and we couldn't find any problem or showstopper.

I totally agree with "Tom Sightler", we are definitely not waiting for sp1. We are starting tomorrow with the kickoff for the Exchange 2016 Project and as soon as all the third party vendors are ready (Enterprise Vault, Black Berry, Veeam, etc.) we are going live.

[MERGED] Can Exchange 2016 be backed up wth veeam 8?
Is veeam 8 (latest patch) capable of backing up VMs with Exchange 2016 DAG Nodes?
If yes, is there any difference to 2010?
At the moment we backup first Node 1 (active DB) with all other servers.
After that we backup Node 2 (passive DB) in an extra job, so they never overlap.

Same with us. After some talks with consultants and articles read, this seems to be a 2013 SP2 and ready from the begin. Ok, waiting now for veeamHoegimator wrote:I totally agree with "Tom Sightler", we are definitely not waiting for sp1. Re: Exchange 2016 supported in v8?
Hi, so far based on our internal testing, we should be able to deliver Exchange 2016 support as a part of v9 release. This functionality has been signed off for beta testing as a part of the latest v9 beta build. Thanks!

When will v9 be released? Where in an update path from exchange 2010 to 2013 or 2016.

You can save us both some time by using forum search in future > v9 Availability - Any hint?

Re: Exchange 2016 supported in v8?
Hi,
I tried to recover Exchange 2016 by using the FLR first and then Exchange Object restore from the FLR Browser.
This worked without Problems even if Veem B&R 8 did not discover Exchange 2016.
With v9 RTM Exchange 2016 is just working fine.

I've just submitted the final draft of What's New in v9 document for proofreading, so I can tell you for sure that Exchange 2016 is fully supported in v9

Re: Exchange 2016 supported in v8?
@Gostev,
Having been part of Beta testers and working closely with systems engineers I too am very keen about this; as I have an up and coming migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016
So without being challenging sir (debt the idea not the person ) not a hard and fast rule for some of us Exchange admins, those days are fading away waiting on service packs as exchange 2016 is much like a exchange 2013 SPxxx
@ other posters.
From my testing Veeam version 9 does work on our test and dev environment, however when Enable application-aware processing is switched on it fails to authenticate to exchange server.
Systems Engineer I was dealing with during Beta testing of V9 is aware of this and I'm currently waiting feed back as I'm holding this upgrade off.

Have you tried the GA version of Veeam B&R v9 or this is based on the beta version tests exclusively?
