Exchange Backups

Hey all,

Does anyone use Veeam to backup Exchange 2016? Currently, the only way i can get backups to work is via VMware which exchange is not aware of the backup (so the logs keep growing).

When i try and do a windows backup on the exchange database and log file drives, i get access denied. My Support case is 03981779

We have been supporting application-consistent backups for Exchange 2016 for several years already and we can confirm there are numerous users doing exactly this without any issues.

Based on log snippet, it looks like permission issue, but let support team investigate the debug logs and find the actual root cause of the problem experienced.

Thank you for the confirmation.

Currently I use VMware snap shots on the entire VM. Because of this method, Exchange does not see the update and the logs are not purged.

how are others backing up? maybe i could mirror the setup.

With Windows Backup do you mean Agent backup?
And do you backup the whole system our just the data disks/partitions?
