Feature Request - Access Rights for Exchange
Currently it is possible to read all user emails from backup records in Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange. Would it be possible to have a some kind of access control on this so that only specific users can access the email contents as this is potentially a privacy concern?

Re: Feature Request - Access Rights for Exchange
Hi and welcome to the community!
Do you use Veeam Endpoint Backup or you've just posted to the wrong forum? If you use VBR and want to limit an access for some particular users please see this article. Otherwise please provide more details about your goals.
Thank you.

[MERGED] Exchange Explorer Mail reading audit
Hi,
We have a problem with the Feature/Bug, that every veeam administrator or Restore operator can see the content of all the Mails.
This is for a high security issue. In Exchange an administrator has also no rights to see the content ( He must allow the access to see it), but in veeam everyone can browse to all the Mails.
Can you please change this with an auditing of what has been opened or a function to active this only on demand?
Regards

Hi,
if the restore-operator should not see the content you can use the Enterprise Manager to restore Exchange objects. Here the restore Operator cannot see the content of the mail. he can only specify some Parameters and let restore all objects that match these parameters.

Another way to track restore operator activity would be to use this predefined backup report > Restore Operator Activity

Actually, i would be super handy if just the user could restore their emails via the Webconsole. Is this possible ?
We, as admins take care about the backup, but the restore is just in the hands of the user.
That would be really really nice.

Currently such granularity is not possible, you can specify only users responsible for the entire Exchange items restore.

Re: Exchange Explorer Mail reading audit
Hi Foggy,
Any update for this feedback ? I noticed this thread is discussed since 2016 and now 2018.
How to prevent administrator to preview email without allow from the exchange explorer ?
As I know, VeeamOne have predefined report named Restore Operator Activity.
However the administrator doesn't need to restore the email that he can preview all mailbox and mail content from the Exchange Explorer interface. I need to know how to prevent it ? Thank you very much.

Re: Exchange Explorer Mail reading audit
Hi Michael, currently this is possible when restoring from Enterprise Manager only, not from Veeam Explorer for Exchange.
