Exclude Backups from being used by SureBackup Jobs

Hello,

We have B&R 5.0.2. We have several backup jobs: 1 Nightly incremental to local disk covering all our production VMs which gets shipped to tape every week and has a retention period of 14 days on disk. Another nightly backup which backs up the mission-critical VMs offsite on the WAN using reversed-incremental. And one backup that runs every hour on our mission-critical VMs to a reversed-incremental file on a NAS box.

When we run SureBackup jobs, we only want it to pick VMs off of the nightly local backup not the hourly or off-site one. Is there a way of doing this?

I see that works with VMs from linked backup jobs. But what about VMs in application groups? We have an app group call Domain controller which contains the DC that some of the VMs require to operate. It seems that the DC is getting picked up from the latest backup which is usually the hourly one.

Hi David, for application groups there is currently no way to select backup job to get the backup from unfortunately. I've stepped on this once myself. We are planning to address this in the next release. Thanks.

David, as a workaround I would suggest you to use "Start job to..." option of SureBackup job. With it, you can select time which is closer to your nightly local backup rather than to hourly one. Thus, B&R should pick backup you want. Hope it helps!

Thanks. Thats the workaround I'm using, it just means I have to think when running labs
