Support case ID 03041268. Is there a way to restrict Veeam (application-aware image processing) from creating VSS snapshots on a specific volume or disk? I have tried excluding the disk from the backup job and making the disk Intependent in VMware, but neither affect the VSS snapshots. And I see the file exclusions in AAP, but that seems to be more for individual files and folders than whole volumes, and I suspect it won't prevent a VSS snapshot on the volume.
Veeam jobs have been causing a critical server to hang, which I believe is due to VSS snapshots on a Storage Replica log volume (see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windo ... -snapshots). The solution in that case is to exclude that volume from VSS snapshots. In our case, we have an application on the server which requires AAP, so completely disabling it is not an option. The Storage Replica log volume is on a dedicated vmdk disk.
Does Veeam have a way to exclude a volume or disk from VSS snapshots? Using a FilesNotToSnapshot registry key (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windo ... dow-copies) or otherwise?

Re: Exclude volume or disk from VSS snapshots
One more potential avenue to a resolution here - it was announced that starting with Veeam B&R 9.5 update 4, support for Storage Replica was added to AAP:

Is there documentation of this support? Using AAP with Storage Replica is exactly what I am trying to accomplish here. If there is something I need to do differently with my Storage Replica configuration or similar to utilize the Veeam supported configuration, I can do that. I'm assuming something isn't matching since Veeam is snapshotting the log volume.

Re: Exclude volume or disk from VSS snapshots
As an update, I did try using the FilesNotToSnapshot registry key. Specifically, I added a REG_MULTI_SZ called VeeamExcludePaths with value L:\* /s (L: is the volume for the Storage Replica logs), but the server still hangs when running the Veeam job. I see that there is specific support for Storage Replica in Veeam agent for Windows, and it does work correctly if I use VAW backups, but changing these servers from VMware backups to VAW backups will have negative consequences like breaking our SureBackup jobs, so I'd like to get this working with VMware backups. If anyone sees this, is there any way of getting the same Storage Replica support/behavior that is in VAW to work in VMware backups?
