Expanding Scaleout Repository
If you add an extent to a scaleout repository and there is existing free space on the original extent, how will new backups be written across the 2 extents? Will it choose the extent with the most free space to write to, or spread it across both?

Re: Expanding Scaleout Repository
Hello,
It depends on backup file placement policy. The amount of free space can be a decisive factor for extent selection with Performance policy whereas all backup files that belong to the same backup chain (full backup and related incremental files) are stored on the same extent as long as Data Locality policy is used. You may have a look at this page, it describes the backup file placement logic in sufficient detail.
Thanks!
