So I'm trying to upgrade a community edition VBR which is very old (v9.5). And since I don't think you can do an upgrade from the current version installed on the backup server to even v11a, I thought it would just be easier to take a backup file from the backup server and import it straight into v12.2. Simple enough right?
On the home tab, it has an "Actions" category that shows import and export backup. What does this function do exactly? The description states: "Select one or more restore points to export into the self-contained full backup file. This functionality is designed for archiving important restore points and making them portable", but it doesn't say anything about how it goes to achieve this. Does it bundle up into one .zip file like the support case logs do or does it do something else?
I would also like to know if there is an easier way of upgrading from 9.5 community edition, this specific backup server hasn't been touched in years and I really need to get this upgraded asap. Can I just upgrade it to v11a then onto 12.2 remotely? The backup server is a Windows Server Core, so no GUI. It's managed by another server which has the console on it, simply connecting to the backup server via VBR.
Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks
