Exporting imported backups ...
Hi guys,
i have some imported backups from different servers with 30 restore points each. Any possibility to export those into one *.vbk file? It seems, as if only none-imported backups can be exported?
Thanks,
Didi7

Hi,
No, shouldn't be a problem. Any particular issue you encountered in this scenario?
Thanks,
Oleg

Re: Exporting imported backups ...
Yes,
as far as I know there is no export (grayed out) possibility for disk-backups that have been re-imported. All disk-backups that have not been removed from Backups=>Disk or re-imported can be exported, but as soon as i move disk backups manually and remove them from Backups=>Disk and re-import them, e.g. from a different directory, they appear under Backups=>Disk (Imported) but Export Backup is grayed out then.
How do you export Disk-Backups that have been re-imported and appear under Backups=>Disk (Imported) ?
Thanks

Re: Exporting imported backups ...
Sorry,
I see no possibility in the VBR-GUI to export any DISK-Images, that have been re-imported to get one *.vbk backup-file from a 30 restore-point backup-chain with one *.vbk and 29 *.vib's.
Thanks for any info.
Regards,
Didi7

Hey Didi7,
Maybe, did you just import a backup file directly without the meta file?
This is in the test lab my company has, and my imported backups can export just fine.

Re: Exporting imported backups ...
Hi sconcscy,
first of all many thanks for replying (appreciated). I re-checked everything and re-imported disk-backups with the help of the *.vbm (meta-file) and I have 2 different directories from 2 different backup jobs, both have a meta file (*.vbm). After re-importing those disk-backups, they appear under Backups=>Disk (Imported) and Export backup is still grayed out.
But let me check, I have another idea.

Re: Exporting imported backups ...
Very strange, I thought it has something to do with the version, as we still have some 9.5 U4 boxes, but the same behavior in 10.0.1.4854 without the current patch KB4050.
Unbelievable.
One question, how many restore-points has the VM you tried to export under Backups=>Disk (Imported)=>storeonce-target ?

Hi,
Sorry for being away for a while.
Do you happen to import your backups from a random server/path rather than the repository added to your VBR console?
Thanks,
Oleg

Hi Oleg,
yes those re-imported Disk-Backups are on seperated server-paths locally, which do not belong to the configured repositories.

- Copy backups to the host configured as a repository in your VBR console and hit rescan for the target repo.
- Add the host with backups as a repository to your VBR infrastructure. Rescan will be triggered automatically.

Re: Exporting imported backups ...
Hi Oleg and the likes,
today I returned from holiday season and created new restore backup repositories, moved all backups to these repositories and scanned them. They all appeared under Home=>Backups=>Disk (Imported) and all of them can be exported now.
Thanks
Didi7
