Hello,
We are migration VMs from standalone ESXi host to Vmware cluster. The process we are using is pretty straightforward: setup the replicas of the VMs, then use Failover Now and Finalize Failover. Everything worked great except the original VMs were still running after performing failover and finalising failover so I had to shut it down manually and for some time (until the original VM was off) we had two boxes with the same IP in the network. Is that by design that original VM keeps running after failover to replica or I missed something in the process?
Thank you very much,

Re: Failover to replica - source VM still running
Luba, DR situation implies loss of the original VM, so failover is performed when it is already turned off/lost. In your scenario, for such a controlled migration, you should use planned failover, which, in addition, allows you to sync the latest changes occurred on the original VM to prevent any data loss.
