Fastest way to restore from DR

Post by Shieik »

I will try to be as clear as possible:

I want to know best way to return from DR (google) to onpremise (hyperV)

Steps??:
1 - VM backed up with VBR onpremise to onpremise repo and copy with backup-copy to Google Cloud
2 - Infra onpremise dies, and we restore the VM with VBR on google (created new and import backup) to google, all fine
3 - VM on google, backed up with VBR google to google
4 - Infra onpremise restored, we create backup-copy of backups on google to repo onpremise
5 - in scheculed window, we stop google vm, we make one last backup, we make one last backup-copy to onpremise repo
6 - VM restored from onpremise repo

This is the way? or am i giving it a lot of thought and there is a simpler way?

Hello Shieik

Yes, the path looks ok. Step 4 + 5 are optional.
You can connect your "Veeam Backup for Google" repository as an external repository to the VBR backup server and start the recovery from there ( Instant Recovery to Microsoft Hyper-V): https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

Another option would be to back up the Google VMs with our Veeam Agent directly to an on-premises VBR backup repository. However, this will require a VPN connection between the VBR and your Google Cloud machines.
