Fastest way to restore?

Post by zoltank »

I know backing up with Reverse Incremental is pretty slow, but is it faster the restoring the latest backup of a VM from a reverse incremental backup since it doesn't need to rebuild the VM from multiple backup files?

I would say that the difference is pretty negligible unless the chain is really long, but don't just take my word for it, give it a go :)

Restore performance does not depend on backup chain type. It does not matter if the required blocks reside in a single backup file, or in multiple.
