Feature req: Don't report backup failed until retries fail
Every so often one of my VMs will fail to back up at the first attempt but will almost always succeed on the first retry and definitely by the second. If possible I'd like an option for VEEAM not to report the job as a failure in the console until all of the retries fail too, since as a whole, the job succeeded after 1 or 2 retries.

Hello Kevin,
It's already achievable with Suppress notifications until the last retry option.
Thanks!

That option only suppresses the mail notifications, I think what he's looking for is an option to suppress the failed status in "Last 24 hours" report in Veeam B&R.

That's correct, and better stated than my postm.levisson wrote:I think what he's looking for is an option to suppress the failed status in "Last 24 hours" report in Veeam B&R.

Got it. Does the info bother you?
I think it is useful to know some tries failed and the failure reason.

Not bother as such, but it's a little like the boy who cried Wolf! If I see the Failed folder is there every day, over time it loses its impact and you can guarantee that the one day that there's a real failure that needs prompt attention, it'll get missed.
Maybe putting failure notices for jobs that succeed on retry into the "Warnings" folder might be better, rather than leaving them out completely so that those who wish to see the notices can do so?

x2 on this its an issue with some of my clients jumping the gun and stressing about their backups when a lot of the time the backup has infact completed successfully.

[MERGED] Option for surpressing failed jobs until last retry in Enterprise Manager
Hi,
We are using Veeam Enterprise Monitor to check if jobs were successful from 60+ backup servers.
I would like to filter out failed jobs where the retry was successful, which isn't possible now it seems.
Is there an registry setting maybe that can accomplish this?

Hi, do you mean Jobs view in Enterprise Manager?

I use the " last 24 hours" dashboard for this. Then if you click on error jobs, it takes you to the Reports tab.

Take a look at Veeam Backup & Replication Dashboard in Veeam ONE, it treats successfully retried job as successful and only includes jobs for which all retry attempts have failed into 'Error' count. There's also the Latest Backup Job Status report with this information.

Re: Feature req: Don't report backup failed until retries fail
We have a lot of locations with high latency and unreliable connections, which Veeam ONE doesn't like very much for getting data for the B&R servers.Take a look at Veeam Backup & Replication Dashboard in Veeam ONE, it treats successfully retried job as successful and only includes jobs for which all retry attempts have failed into 'Error' count. Veeam Enterprise Manager does that a lot better, so we can't really use Veeam ONE for this unfortunately.

Let me quickly chime in here. Tom, can you please give us a bit more info on the issues you had with Veeam ONE? Do you have a support case opened, so I could review the investigation results?

[MERGED] Veeam EM Dashboard and reports issue
Hello,
Is there a way to tune the Enterprise Manager portal so that jobs are not reported as "Failed" when they've succeeded in a retry? It is quite misleading and leads to unnecessary work.
For example, this morning I logged in and found that it had 6 errors under "Last 24 hours". When I click on the errors it shows a file server backup job as having failed so I login to the server and find it showing "Success". Digging deeper I can see that it failed to backup one of the file servers due to an "Operation timed out" error but succeeded upon retrying. Yet EM still reports it as an error.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Feature req: Don't report backup failed until retries fail
There is no way to fine-tune it, but thanks for the feedback. As an alternative, I would suggest taking a look at Veeam ONE if you have Veeam Availability Suite bundle. Thanks!
