Hi
It would be good to have a special box to tick in the scheduling for "Enable Holidays", that way the schedule jobs do not run on specific days.
if ticked, Veeam could read a special "holidays" file that would contain a list of the holidays for the current year.
That file would be managed by the User with for example the day number (one per line for example).
The file could look like:
#Holidays for 2015
1 # New Year day
2 # Boxing day
93 # Easter Friday
96 # Easter Monday
etc
This would be particularly beneficial for tape backups and tape copies, when operators are not available to replace tapes, or when tape libraries do not have enough slots to fit several days of tapes.
This is not as crucial for backup to disks but there is still some benefits to have a single file that would be read by all jobs (if option "Enable Holidays" is ticked) in order to quickly alter the schedules for a one off operation (ie datacenter maintenance, planned WAN down time, office shutdown period, etc) without the need to go to each jobs and disable it or change the scheduling, and then to change again.
I am sure there might be some workaround to achieve the same thing by using Windows Scheduling, etc but it would be good to have everything managed through Veeam

Re: Feature Request: Add Holidays in Scheduling
Hi 20100,
Good request indeed. Regarding tapes – we have a waiting for tape time for tape jobs set to 3 days (72 hours) specifically for the purpose you described.
As for PowerShell scripts here is a post with the example - it may help you to trigger the jobs via Task Scheduler based on your personal schedule.
Thanks again!

Re: Feature Request: Add Holidays in Scheduling
+1 for this feature.. would certainly come in handy.
I was just trying to work out what backup jobs i'd have to pause over the long weekend that we have here in OZ. Having a holiday's schedule would be very nice indeed.

On a side note, if nothing happens during holidays period, then incremental backup should not consume much space, right?
