Feature Request - Configurable Linux Repository Parameters

Post by arogarth »

Hello,

we use Linux CentOS Servers as Repository Servers for our Backups. During Backups VEEAM write logs to the folder /tmp/VeeamBackup.

There are no parameters to Change Log-Path or to rotate Log Filesize and Count.

In our server policies we keep the tmp-partition as small as we need it and with veeam the partition will be filled up after some weeks again and again.

The Support answer was to use symlinks - Sorry, but this is not a practical solution, tmp will be flushed on reboot, Symlinks will be deleted after it.

There are much workarounds (startup script, logrotate, cron-jobs, etc) - but this are all dirty hacks. A fine solution will be to configure the Log-Parameters central in VEEAM.

Best regards,

If you create a folder on the server called /var/log/VeeamBackup logs will go there instead. I mount a distributed filesystem across all our repository servers so all the logs are view able from a single share.

The docs don't seem to mention: is a service restart required?

There is no concept of a service for the Linux repository, every time you start a new job, it injects a new instance of the Linux repository code via SSH
