Feature Request: Enterprise Manager Azure Security Group Name

Post by srgl »

Hi,
we are utilizing the Veeam Enterprise Manager quite heavily to include our users in their backup&restore processes.
Each business unit has their own set of users and tagged vms.
We are utilizing Azure SAML as an identiy provider for the Enterprise Manager.

To utilize this; security groups are used as external group.

These groups are synced via Group ID only, so a random set of chars and ints. Not very declarative.
Via Veeam Enterprise Manager I cannot see what business unit is behind that ID; for this I would need to go to azure and check on the group ID.

As the environment grows, this is becoming more inconvenient.

My suggestion is to add a Note field for External Groups in Enterprise Manager.
This should be added to:
- Self Service
- Roles

Thanks for reading and have a great day :)

Hi Sascha.

Good idea, however, I have a feeling that SAML protocol does not contain group name information, thus to get them we will require an additional Azure API connection.
Will raise it with the team.

/Thanks!
