Feature Request : Global Maintenance Mode Switch
Hello,
As far as know, when upgrading or during other major action (veeam infra patching,
SQL DB Maintenance for eg ...), jobs have to be uncheduled to prevent startup.
Having global maintenace switch preventing new jobs to start, without updating
scheduling but allowing running ones to complete, could be a very handy add-on ...
Thanks !
TH

I think the whole process can be scripted fairly easily, so, if you don't have anything against PowerShell, post your query on the corresponding subforum, and we will provide you with the working example. Thanks!

Re: Feature Request : Global Maintenance Mode Switch
I have no problem with scripting it but wouldn't it be easier by just a click ?
Do not forget you may have backup, replication, tape, zip or any other storage jobs ?
What about if a colleague, not aware of a maintenance action, manually start a job or a recover ?
or what if you also have externally scheduled jobs ?
You can already put in maintenance a proxy, why not also entire env ?

I didn't mean that the idea does not sound reasonable - was just trying to provide some workaround, while the given feature is not implemented.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback - it's been noted.

Re: Feature Request : Global Maintenance Mode Switch
I like this idea for things like windows updates and planning reboots. It would save from disabling jobs, copy jobs, tape jobs etc. Even something like a storage migration going long causes jobs to error out / get missed etc. Having to just click one button do do that, as well as the option to disable email alerts would also be good.
This would be much more involved, but it would be a cool feature to schedule maintenance. Veeam could take an average of the previous backups, to get an estimate on how long each job takes to complete. With those numbers it would know when to stop adding new tasks. I would be happy with clicking a button and waiting for the server to drain whatever tasks it has to complete and wait for me though.

+1 for this, also have it set any SQL log shipping or similar jobs to disabled so those spin down cleanly

[MERGED] feature request - general maintenance mode
hello,
here is a feature request :
put veeam in maintenance mode to allow updates of components
We need to wait for all jobs to finish before beeing able to update veeam components (windows update, linux update).
When we have lot of jobs, we need to disable some jobs already completed, wait for other jobs to complete, disable this jobs. We need to disable all jobs to be able to launch updates or some jobs will start during maintenance.
We have some jobs disabled (enabled when we need). When we re-enable, we need to be sure not to enable these jobs.
A button to put veeam in maintenance mode would be great : it does not stop running jobs, but no new jobs are started. When all jobs are finished, we can work on update. When maintenance is ok for us, disable the general maintenance mode and jobs can start again.
Being alerted with veeam one is better
Thanks
