Feature request: incremental backup (VBK and VRB)

Post by m.novelli »

I have many customers that love Veeam Backup and would like to put on tape the VBK and VRB files for DR

Each of them is complaining that have to waste a lot of tape space to save each day a big VBK file. Is it possible to have, in addition to Reverse Incremental Backups, the standard and classic Incremental Backups?

So, for instance:

Saturday --> Full Veeam Backup on VBK file and copy on tape
Sunday --> Incremental Veeam Backup and copy on tape
Monday --> Incremental Veeam Backup and copy on tape
Tuesday --> Incremental Veeam Backup and copy on tape
...

In this way will be possible to save a lot of space on tapes

Thanks

Marco

Hello Marco, this feature is a part of v5.

Tom first asked for this feature 1 year ago sharp. Here is the original feature request and "main" discussion topic:
Aligning your Corporate Backup Policy with Veeam

There are a few more topics about this too, just search for "forward incremental" or "forward increments" to find those.

Thanks!

This feature should be available in Veeam Backup and Replication 5, scheduled for release later this year (I hope).

Disclaimer: I'm not a Veeam employee. Anything I say regarding future product features can be wrong...and likely is!! (But in this case I'm pretty sure I'm right  )

And here is the original inventor himself, just 2 minutes late :)
Release is scheduled for late Q3, and I am pretty confident that we will make it.
