FEATURE REQUEST: Mirrored Backups
I would like to have a backup copy option that mirrors a standard backup. Currently, the Immediate Copy mode says mirroring, but it does not remove incremental backups once a full is taken the way a standard job does. This results in the copy job requiring more disk space than the original job. To save disk space, the mirrored copy job would need to be able to look at the original job file structure and ensure the copy job file structure matches (ie that the incremental are removed and the full is copied).

Re: FEATURE REQUEST: Mirrored Backups
Hello Tonn
Backup jobs and backup copy jobs maintain their own separate backup chains. If we were to copy backup files directly, we might inadvertently transfer corrupted data as well.
That's why there will never be just a simple mirroring.
Best,
Fabian

By ensuring that the retention policy in the backup copy job matches that of the original backup job, the required storage and the number of backup files should be similar or even identical between the two jobs.but it does not remove incremental backups once a full is taken the way a standard job does.
If you're not currently using FastClone-capable storage, I recommend implementing it. With such storage solutions (XFS or ReFS) your synthetic full backups and backup copies will require minimal additional space. This results in the copy job requiring more disk space than the original job.
