Feature Request: MySQL Explorer

Post by ndearing » 1 person likes this post

I'm sure I'm not the first person to request this but: I would love to see a Veeam Explorer and application-specific support for MySQL databases. This is especially important for the growing number of Wordpress websites and open-source applications being used.

Hi,
...and application-specific support for MySQL databases.
You can use pre-freeze/post-thaw scripts in order to perform flush and set/release the lock on the database prior/after snapshot. Would you like it to proccess binlogs too?

Thanks for the feedback!

Hi,

If OP does not need it we need it. Optimally with logs and also for Postgres.

There are many ways of working with MySQL however the only way for consistancy is using the binlog mode. Could you confirm you already have this enabled and running? As from my experience 80% of MySQL databases don't enable this and keep a very basic install where you'll need to either use mysqldump or lock tables.

Wie have it enabled for some databases but would enable it right away globally if Veeam would provide some kind of integration

For now we don't plan any particular integration for this matter. Your voice has been heard, nonetheless. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm going to bump an old topic with an important request: Mysql support.

Veeam has SQL quiescence, has added Oracle support, and has the new Linux agent. I think the next logical progression would be direct support for MySql database management, restore, and quiesce. Not indirect workarounds like pre/post scripts. This should really be B&R native.
