Feature Request - Proxy disable
I can think of several scenarios where replication proxy needs to be pulled out of production, either for maintenance or maybe to replace a Windows proxy with Linux. On busy VBRs, its tough to find a time when a proxy isn't busy. It would be nice if we could trigger a proxy disable that would allow it to complete any current workloads, but not allow it to be selected for any new workloads. Currently, if you disable a proxy, any job using it just fails.

Re: Feature Request - Proxy disable
Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
It feels like that would be part of a "maintenance mode" feature, which we have in mind, but no timeline yet.
Just curious... what is the main reason to pull out proxies from production? Windows updates?
Best regards
Hannes

Re: Feature Request - Proxy disable
Updates and reboots are certainly a big factor. But also, for instance, the most recent versions of Veeam 13 break Linux Hot Add proxies. I know a fix is on the way, but if we are to move forward, we'll need to deploy Windows proxies for hot add. Once the Linux issue is resolved, we would then want to remove the Windows proxies (we generally use linux anywhere we can). Obviously any jobs that are starting are going to prefer the hot add proxies. Which would make removing them a challenge.

I am curious, could you elaborate in what way V13 breaks the Linux Hot-Add Proxies? We also use them, but I have not actively seen issues with that in our environment.

Re: Feature Request - Proxy disable
for the "remove Windows proxies", it seems like "disable" would do the job, or not?
If you have a support case for the hot-add issue with Linux proxies, then I would also be interested in that.

Re: Feature Request - Proxy disable
Sure, I can refer you to Case # 07922482 and Case # 07943267 which relate.
Upon update to any current version of 13, any job trying to use a Linux hot add proxy will fail with the following error - ERR |Access to [/dev/sdb] is denied.
When I opened Case # 07922482, I was told "This behavior matches a known issue with the current version and Linux proxies utilizing Hot Add mode. It is reportedly addressed in a future release."
for the "remove Windows proxies", it seems like "disable" would do the job, or not? - Yes. But currently, if we disable a proxy, any job using that proxy will fail. Thats my feature request. That disable would allow any existing jobs to complete, but not allow any new jobs to select that proxy.
